How do I prepare for a spray tan?

To prepare for a spray tan, it is important to shave, exfoliate, and moisturize your skin 8-12 hours prior to your appointment, then showering immediately prior to appointment. This will help to remove any dead skin cells and create a smooth surface for the tanning solution to adhere to. ABSOLUTELY NO DOVE BRAND OR MINERAL OIL BASED PRODUCTS. It is also important to wear loose, dark clothing to your appointment and during developmental stages and DO NOT WEAR ANY PRODUCT TO YOUR APPOINTMENT (lotions, oils or deodorant) as these can act as a barrier and affect the evenness of the tan. It is important during the developmental stage to avoid contact with water and activities with the potential to sweat!

Aftercare instructions

It is important to follow after care instuctions to ensure your tan lasts as long as possible. Avoid tight clothing, such as denim, fitted tops, leggings, and socks. No moisturizing, working out and avoid contact with water. Try not to cross you legs or arms to minamize skin to skin contact. If you have an express tan you can shower 1-3 hours after your spray tan. The more time you give your solution to develop the darker your tan will be. If you did not do a express tan please wait 6-24 hours before showering. Do not let your tan develop longer than 24 hours or it has the potential to dry out your skin. When showering you will notice the solution washing off. Do not worry, this is only the bronzer in the solution that serves as a guide for your spray tan artist. The solution will continue to develop for up to 24 hours after you shower. Use warm water not hot water and a natural body wash. Avoid exfoliating, shaving or harsh scrubbing. Pat yourself dry. Moisturize with an oil-free moisturizer. Lubriderm products are great because they are oil-free, fragrance-free and paraben-free. It is important to keep your tan moisturized. Stay away from harsh chemicals, such as chlorine in pools, hot tubs and salt water. The better you care for your spray tan the longer your tan will last.
